Small Mirror
Rich Blue Paint

Probably New England, ca. 1830 to 1870.
Pine. With a complex surface of dry original scarce blue paint, with a very thin, tightly crackled and darkened over-varnish, all with appropriate handling wear. In areas of no over-varnish coverage (portions of back), or worn away on the front, one can see the brighter blue hue of the unvarnished paint. The frame is carved from one piece of pine, so no need for corner joinery, and is nicely chamfered on all edges.

Original mirror glass held into the frame by glazing around the perimiter of the glass front. The glass has lost much of its reflection due to atmospheric loss of silvering.
