Painted Treen Funnel

Probably New England, ca. early to mid 19th century.

Rather sophisticated for such a utilitarian country object.

Original highly-patinated white paint on pine. Subtly flared body, staved with split-sapling joinery. Iron spout that is attached on the interior by nails. That is has survived is quite remarkable.

Just 4 ½ inches tall to the top of the spot; diameter at the base 3 1/2 inches.
